VKWC Big AIr World Championships

08.08.2015 - Bruna Kajiya (Brasil) wins the VKWC Kitesurf World Cup in the discipline Freestyle ahead of Gisela Pulido (Spain) and Annabel van Westerop (Aruba). Christophe Tack (Belgium) and Carlos Mario (Brasil) share the first place in the men’s discipline.

Fuerteventura delivered a variety of conditions during the canarian tour stop of the VKWC Kitesurf World Championships. The island showcased the typical strong offshore winds as well as lighter sea breezes and the competitors had to prove that they are able to ride a large varitey of conditions.

In the women’s division 9 times World Champion Gisela Pulido from Spain had to compete against Bruna Kajiya from Brasil. Kajiya felt very at home in the light breeze, showing control and power in her tricks. Pulido didn’t manage to showcase the same complexity and power and was voted down by the judges. The young Aruban Annabel Van Westerop secured the third place in her heat against Paula Novotna.

There were several attempts to run the Men's Final and mini final, but the wind was just not playing ball, so by 5pm the event was over, placing Christophe Tack (France) and Carlos Mario (Brasil) in joint 1st place, and Alex Pastor (Spain) with David Tonijuan (Spain) in joint 3rd place.

It was unfortunately not possible to finish the Big Air elimination due to the light wind conditions.

06.08.2015 - BIG AIR ON DAY FOUR OF THE VKWC FUERTEVENTURA
The competitors awoke to an unusually overcast morning on day four of the Virgin Kitesurf World Championship, not the usual bright, burning sun that they had grown accustomed to over the previous days. Unfortunately for this spot, overcast weather also generally means lighter wind, and so the riders were not greeted with the stronger winds that had been forecasted and hoped for in order to commence the Big Air discipline.
